Early Head Start serves as a buffer to prevent and address childhood trauma, hunger, poor health, and other outcomes associated with growing up in poverty.

ROAMS, the Rural Ob Access & Maternal Service, is a collaboration between Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) in Taos, Miner’s Colfax Medical Center (MCMC) in Raton, Union County General Hospital (UCGH) in Clayton, Presbyterian Medical Services Questa Health Center (PMS/QHC), and the First Steps program in Taos to improve maternal health outcomes in Northeastern, New Mexico. Roams has helped establish a network of care workers in Northeastern New Mexico to help pregnant women access health care services.

RMPT offers quality physical therapy in Raton, NM. The following services are provided: dry needling, functional capacity evaluations, aquatic therapy, pediatrics, home health, wellness program, urinalysis and breath alcohol testing, student program. Hours: Monday-Friday 6am-5pm.

StrongHearts Native Helpline (1-844-762-8483) is a 24/7 confidential and anonymous culturally-appropriate domestic, dating and sexual violence helpline for Native Americans. StrongHearts advocates offer the following services at no cost:

The Summer Food Service Program for Children (SFSP) is administered on the Federal level by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary purpose of the SFSP is to provide food service to children from needy areas during periods when area schools are closed for vacation.

The Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico Chapter is a nonprofit that provides support, fundraising and advocacy on behalf of the 43,000 New Mexicans with Alzheimer’s disease and their 85,000 unpaid family caregivers. The New Mexico Commission for Deaf & Hard of Hearing provides effective leadership, education, advocacy and programs to reduce barriers to the social, economic, educational, cultural and intellectual well-being of Deaf and Hard of Hearing New Mexicans and their families, friends and colleagues. NMCDHH provides programs and services to over 250,000 people in New Mexico who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Hard of Hearing and Late-Deafened and their families, friends, agencies and organizations. Programs and services are categorized into three areas: communication access and development, telecommunications and technical assistance, and public policy and advocacy. Office hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The Department of Community Advocacy provides advocacy and referrals for transition-related settings, as well as guidance on requesting and receiving accommodations. They also work with professionals from various districts, institutions and agencies to ensure that individuals are receiving appropriate services under federal law, and participate in a variety of transition groups and organizations focused on improving outcomes for post-secondary transition for individuals with disabilities.

The Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico supports transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming communities through direct services, education, and advocacy. There are no bilingual staff, but they work with several translation providers for individuals who need to access the services and where English is not a language they feel comfortable using. This includes providing translation for support groups; one such group, the Black and Brown TGNBI group, has a facilitator who is bilingual. They are willing to work with anyone who needs services and assistance, and that includes the Spanish speaking transgender community.
